A QUEEN BY NIGHT
This series is a photo essay about a boy living with a double life. Abdul Tahir 23 years old who lives under the same roof as his 7 siblings and his mum. Tahir has always been an independent child to find his own pocket money. By day he is working at a store call Dunkin Donuts in his hometown at Punggol. In his free time he spends the day with his family and friends and sometimes even alone.
And by night he is a drag queen also known as Sapphire Blast, Sapphire is the stone of his birthday month and blast was given by his best friends. As a young boy he was always called out for being to feminine & fat. When he was 9 his mum dress him up as a girl. With the interest to perform in drag he started doing his own makeup, learning how to sew and learn how to serve looks. He first started at his friends birthday party but only debut to the world when he join a drag competition called “Drag Wars” where he manage to snatch the crown. And ever since then he started performing for various gigs and loving himself more. As an introvert being a drag queen he went through many struggles but he can now say that hes confident in his own skin as a drag and as himself.
